Learn the history while having a stroll through the Geiko districts - Higashi and Kazue-machi.
In this walking tour, you will gain understanding of two Geiko districts located around the Asanogawa River. Explore the main streets and hidden, quite back streets with a local English-speaking guide with fascinating stories. You will learn how Kanazawa Geiko lived in the districts in the past, and how the present-day Kanazawa Geiko inherit the tradition.
You will receive a guide-system receiver with earphones. With this, you will be able to hear the voice of the English-speaking guide clearly, even on a busy street.
The tour route includes a few sets of steps and narrow streets. Please bring a drink and comfortable shoes with you.
Meet Our Members
HIROMI
Hiromi is an English teacher, and the owner of a homestay-style guesthouse in the beachside town of Uchinada, located just a 15-minute train ride away from Kanazawa. She spent two years in Australia and travelled back and forth to Thailand while studying the Thai language and learning about its culture and people. She has many interesting stories to share.
Hiromi, who is a licensed tour guide in Kanazawa, has always had a strong passion for travelling and meeting people from all over the world. Working as a tour guide and sharing memorable experiences with travellers is an important part of her exciting life. She is friendly, and eager to answer any questions you have!
AYA
A former interior designer and the mother of a four-year-old, Aya is originally from Aichi Prefecture, where she lived until the age of 15 before moving to Sydney, Australia. There, she experienced the joy of immersing herself in a different culture. After living abroad for six years and spending ten years in Tokyo, she relocated to Kanazawa in December 2021.
She immediately fell in love with the city and is now passionate about sharing that love with travellers who visit. Aya is a licensed tour guide in Kanazawa and part of the editorial team of eyeon Kanazawa, an English-language magazine for travellers. She loves talking to people and learning about them and their cultures.
