Learn the history while having a stroll through the Geiko districts - Higashi and Kazue-machi.
In this walking tour, you will gain understanding of two Geiko districts located around the Asanogawa River. Explore the main streets and hidden, quite back streets with a local English-speaking guide with fascinating stories. You will learn how Kanazawa Geiko lived in the districts in the past, and how the present-day Kanazawa Geiko inherit the tradition.
You will receive a guide-system receiver with earphones. With this, you will be able to hear the voice of the English-speaking guide clearly, even on a busy street.
The tour route includes several sets of steps and narrow streets. Please bring a drink and comfortable shoes with you.

Q1. Will the tour be cancelled in heavy rain?
The tour will run even in rainy weather unless Kanazawa City issues an official warning. Please bring an umbrella or a raincoat if rain is expected.
Q2. Can I join the tour with my toddler?
Of course! Children aged 6 or below can join for free, however, we do not provide a guide system with earphones for them. Please note that the tour proceeds with other travellers, we are unable to adjust a walking pace. If you have any concerns, we are happy to arrange a private tour.
Q3. There is no tour scheduled on the days I will be in Kanazawa. What should I do?
Please contact us to arrange a private tour. We can offer flexibility in both itinerary and places you would like to visit.
Q4. My English is not very good. Do you offer tours in other languages?
At the moment, we only offer tours in English.
Q5. Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, the tour not wheelchair accessible. The route includes several sets of steps and narrow streets. However, we would be happy to arrange a private tour and plan a route that better suits your needs.
Q6. I walk with a cane. Will that be a problem?
You are welcome to join the tour with a cane. Please note that the tour proceeds with other travellers, and we are unable to adjust a walking pace. If this is a concern, we recommend booking a private tour.
Q7. Can I buy a ticket on the day?
Yes, you can purchase a ticket on the day of the tour if capacity has not reached 10 participants. Tickets are available up to 10 minutes before the tour begins.
Q8. Is there a restroom at the meeting point?
Yes, there is. However, we recommend going to a nearby public restroom before heading to the meeting point.

HIROMI
Hiromi is an English teacher, and the owner of a homestay-style guesthouse in the beachside town of Uchinada, located just a 15-minute train ride away from Kanazawa. She spent two years in Australia and travelled back and forth to Thailand while studying the Thai language and learning about its culture and people. She has many interesting stories to share.
Hiromi, who is a licensed tour guide in Kanazawa, has always had a strong passion for travelling and meeting people from all over the world. Working as a tour guide and sharing memorable experiences with travellers is an important part of her exciting life. She is friendly, and eager to answer any questions you have!
AYA
A former interior designer and the mother of a four-year-old, Aya is originally from Aichi Prefecture, where she lived until the age of 15 before moving to Sydney, Australia. There, she experienced the joy of immersing herself in a different culture. After living abroad for six years and spending ten years in Tokyo, she relocated to Kanazawa in December 2021.
She immediately fell in love with the city and is now passionate about sharing that love with travellers who visit. Aya is a licensed tour guide in Kanazawa and part of the editorial team of eyeon Kanazawa, an English-language magazine for travellers. She loves talking to people and learning about them and their cultures.
