If  you want to learn more than what online resources and books offer, and would like to have the company of a local guide, our walking tour is perfect for you. Our friendly, knowledgeable guide will share stories about the past and present of Geiko in Kanazawa and their Geiko districts while strolling through the historic streets. It is also a great opportunity to learn about the Japanese customs and culture through the English-speaking local Japanese guide.

LOCATION

The earliest start time is 10 AM and the latest start time is 3:00PM. The tour will take you to the two Geiko districts around Asanogawa River. If you have any specific request about places, facilities or shops you would like to visit in the districts, we will adjust the course accordingly.

Meet Our Members

HIROMI

Hiromi is an English teacher, and the owner of a homestay-style guesthouse in the beachside town of Uchinada, located just a 15-minute train ride away from Kanazawa. She spent two years in Australia and travelled back and forth to Thailand while studying the Thai language and learning about its culture and people. She has many interesting stories to share.

Hiromi, who is a licensed tour guide in Kanazawa, has always had a strong passion for travelling and meeting people from all over the world. Working as a tour guide and sharing memorable experiences with travellers is an important part of her exciting life. She is friendly, and eager to answer any questions you have!

AYA

A former interior designer and the mother of a four-year-old, Aya is originally from Aichi Prefecture, where she lived until the age of 15 before moving to Sydney, Australia. There, she experienced the joy of immersing herself in a different culture. After living abroad for six years and spending ten years in Tokyo, she relocated to Kanazawa in December 2021.

She immediately fell in love with the city and is now passionate about sharing that love with travellers who visit. Aya is a licensed tour guide in Kanazawa and part of the editorial team of eyeon Kanazawa, an English-language magazine for travellers. She loves talking to people and learning about them and their cultures.
