Geisha and
Tea Ceremony

Event Overview

The event consists of 2 parts. 

The first part is the Tea Ceremony, and the second part is the Geisha Performance.

2 types of tickets are available.

(A) to experience both or (B) to experience just the Geisha.

The event starting time is also different for (A) and (B).

Dates:
March 19, 21, 29 / April 2, 10, 11

Time / Duration:

(A) Premium: Geisha and Tea Ceremony - 12:15 pm to 14:00 pm (Door opens at 12:00 pm)  / 90 minutes     

(B) Geisha Performance only - 13:00 pm - 14:00 pm (Door opens at 12:50 pm) / 60 minutes

Venue:

Kikuno-ya (address: 3-22 Kazuemachi Kanazawa Ishikawa)

Ticket price: 

(A) Premium: Geisha and Tea Ceremony - JPY 17,000 

 (Seated in the 1st and 2nd rows for the Geisha performance.Seating is first-come, first-served.)

(B) Geisha Performance only - JPY 11,000 

 (Seated in the 2nd, 3rd and side rows for the Geisha performance. Seating is first-come, first-served.)​

Capacity:

(A) Premium: Geisha and Tea Ceremony - 6 guests

(B) Geisha Performance only - 10 guests 

This event is organised by Machi-ya Kanazawa Kikuno-ya

Note:

(1) Tickets are non-refundable. 

(2) Children aged 6 years old or under cannot participate the event.

(3) You are asked to sit on tatami floors during the event.

(4) The Geisha performance takes place on the 2nd floor. Only stairs available.

You are invited to a traditional Kanazawa townhouse: Kikuno-ya.

The special, intimate space situated in the Kazue-machi Chaya District offers a perfect experience to fully indulge in the mesmerising beauty of

the Kanazawa Geisha and Tea Ceremony.

Arrival at a venue

Door opens at 12:00 at  Kikuno-ya, a traditional Kanazawa townhouse located in the back street of Kazue-machi Chaya District.

Matcha whisking by the tea master

Watch carefully as the tea master whisks matcha

green tea and learn how it should be done.

Geisha Ozashiki experience

Watch beautiful, elegant dances by Geisha up close in an environment very close to the actual

Ozashiki.

Otemae by a tea master

A tea master performs Otemae,  a series of performances at a tea ceremony, in front of guests.

Tea Ceremony experience

Immerse yourself in the atmosphere and silence in a tearoom overlooking a small Japanese garden.

Enjoy matcha with wagashi

Enjoy your matcha with a Japanese confectionary, and ask the tea master any questions you have about matcha, tea ceremony or himself.

Whisk your own matcha.  The tea master helps you along  the way.

Taiko drumming experience

A fun experience of. taiko drumming assisted by

the Geisha.

Ozashiki taiko performance

Kanazawa's Ozashiki taiko performance by Geisha. These taiko drums are only seen in Kanazawa.

About the Tea Master : Yuta Takahashi

  • Instagram

Born and raised in Kanazawa, Yuta has been practicing Tea Ceremony for over 17 years.

He is passionate about spreading the joy of Tea Ceremony to the world, and has been

offering experiences and lessons to people both in Japan and abroad at his own

tea ceremony salon called Tea Base Hakutaku, located just behind the Nishi Chaya District.

Note: The event on 21 March will be led by a different tea master.
